I have been breeding ragdolls for several years now and find the breed to be one of my loves in cats besides the maine coons. Ragdolls are truly unique cats. They have sweet, lovable personalities with gentle temperament. They want to be where you are and will follow you everywhere. They earned the name Ragdoll by their tendency to go limp when when being held. They have silky, plush, non-matting fur and a big fluffy tail. The mink ragdolls are known to have even softer fur, like that of a mink.
Ragdolls do not reach full maturity of size and color for up to 3 years. Males averaging 15 pounds with females about 5 pounds less. They are large, lovable cats that love to be held and cuddled. They are to be kept strictly indoors due to their lack of the normal fighting instinct that other cats possess.
The Ragdoll cats, especially the kittens are very sensitive. So spraying them with the water bottle or scolding them harshly is not recommended.
They do demand for attention. They enjoy sitting with you as well sleeping with you. If you are a family or person that loves an affectionate cat, a ragdoll is the cat to get for your family.
